A place of creation

Château de Suronde - An artist residency

An artist residency

Château de Suronde stands as a wellspring of inspiration and creativity.

It offers Kathleen Van den Berghe the perfect setting to combine her love of wine and nature, and the ideal setting for her other great passion: art.
Her 2017 encounter with contemporary art expert Sven Vanderstichelen inspired her to open Château de Suronde as a place of artistic creation.

Together, they created an artist residency at Suronde. Each year, a young Belgian artist is invited to stay and draw inspiration from the breathtaking natural setting.
Some of the resulting artworks even feature on the labels of selected vintages.

Art as guiding thread

In her artistic vision, Kathleen wished to make Château de Suronde a beacon of Belgian contemporary art.
A bridge between her homeland and her adopted region, Suronde has become a place of creation and connection. Artists find inspiration along the peaceful banks of the Layon. Visitors benefit from an exceptional and restorative environment.

The various works created by resident artists at Château de Suronde are also exhibited at Château de Minière, Kathleen’s other estate in the Bourgueil appellation.
